FIRST, THE FOUNDATIONS

What is
ground school?

It’s where you learn the knowledge behind flying—before putting it into practice in the cockpit.

How an aircraft flies. What the weather is telling you. How to read a chart, plan a route, use the radio and understand the rules of the air.

Ground School 3D helps you explore those ideas through visual lessons, hands-on experiments and practice questions, with official references close by.

Test yourself with practice questions, revisit explanations and save your progress across devices.

MAKE IT YOUR HOME AIRPORT

Learn somewhere
you know.

Choose your home airport and explore runway and wind exercises with a familiar starting point. Field elevation brings performance concepts into context.

We start at Springbank, near Calgary. Your classroom can start at another airport in Canada or the United States.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

A few good questions.

Do I need flying experience?

No. You can begin with the aircraft and the basic principles of flight. If you’re already training, use the classroom to revisit concepts alongside your instructor’s guidance.

What does SPL mean for ground-school study?

The abbreviation depends on the country and context. In Canada, start with the Student Pilot Permit and PSTAR; in the U.S., student and sport pilot certificates are different. Our ground-school guide helps you find the right terminology and sources.
