GS3DGROUND SCHOOL

CANADA / BEFORE YOUR FIRST SOLO

For Canadian student pilots, the relevant starting terms are Student Pilot Permit and PSTAR. Build an understanding of the operating rules before relying on memorised answers.

YOUR AIRPORT. YOUR CLASSROOM.

Looking for “SPL ground school”?

If you mean student pilot study in Canada, use the official name Student Pilot Permit. PSTAR is the aviation-regulations examination covered by Transport Canada publication TP 11919. It is also relevant to specified foreign and military applicants; it is not the private-pilot PPAER examination.

A permit and instructor authorization are separate from completing a study activity. Your flight instructor or training unit should confirm the applicable requirements and when you are ready for solo training. Ground School 3D does not issue a permit or authorize a solo flight.

What to organise your revision around.

  • Airspace, operating rules and aircraft right-of-way.
  • Aerodrome traffic, runway markings and visual signals.
  • Radio communication, clearances and instructions.
  • Weather-related operating knowledge and pilot responsibilities.

Use the current TP 11919 topic list and questions as your reference. In the classroom, selected Canadian scenarios help connect those rules with a situation. For example, compare a visual signal with the phase of operation rather than treating its colour alone as the answer.

Turn a correct answer into an explanation.

Keep a short list of the rules you confuse. After each practice attempt, identify the condition that makes the answer correct and explain why the other choices would not fit. Return to the official publication whenever the scenario or wording is unclear.

The app provides selected PSTAR-related activities and practice after registration and setup. It is a supplemental preview awaiting instructor review, not a complete examination bank, an official exam, or a guarantee of a passing result.
