UNITED STATES / REFERENCES & ROADMAP

U.S. pilot study starts with the right certificate.

FAA terminology and requirements differ from Canadian licensing. Use the correct certificate, aircraft category and knowledge-test references when planning U.S. ground study.

YOUR AIRPORT. YOUR CLASSROOM.

Student, sport, private and commercial are different.

A student pilot certificate and a sport pilot certificate are distinct. The United States also uses private pilot certificate and commercial pilot certificate, even though learners often search for “PPL ground school” or “CPL ground school.” Do not assume a Canadian course or examination matches the FAA requirement.

If you searched for SPL, first clarify whether you mean student pilot or sport pilot. Check the FAA information for that specific certificate with a flight or ground instructor, including the training, endorsements and examination steps that apply to you.

Build the reading list from FAA publications.

The Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge introduces core knowledge areas. The Airplane Flying Handbook addresses aeroplane flying concepts, while the applicable Airman Certification Standards or Practical Test Standards describe the relevant testing framework. The FAA handbook and testing pages link to current publications.

Weather, navigation, airspace and aircraft systems can share basic physical principles across countries. Regulations, procedures, certificates and test requirements still need U.S.-specific sources. Separate those parts of your notes so a familiar term does not conceal a different rule.

What is available here today?

Ground School 3D currently prioritises its Canadian study material. Shared visual aircraft and flight-principle activities can support conceptual learning, and the U.S. course roadmap is still growing. This page is a reference overview, not an offer of a completed FAA exam-preparation course.

The app does not currently provide FAA knowledge-test endorsements, approved ground-school hours or guaranteed exam coverage. To explore the shared classroom, create an account and finish setup. For an examination pathway, start with the official FAA requirements and qualified instruction.
